Tawang Monastery stands atop a mountain, 3300 Meters substantial, overlooking the Tawang Chhu Valley. It's more than 350 years previous, and may be the fountainhead of the spiritual lifestyle for the followers from the Gelupa Sect with the Mahayana College of Buddhism, which can be adopted from the Monpa, and Sherdukpen tribes of Arunachal Pradesh.
Surrounded by lofty peaks of more than 4000 Meters in elevation, it's constructed like a fortress and may house over five hundred monks.
